ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! I’m Lisa Hood, and I’m passionate about improving school culture through the power of positive psychology and psychological safety. With over fourteen years of experience in education, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact that wellbeing-focused strategies can have—not just on educators, but also on students and the broader school community.

I hold a Masters of Educational Leadership and a Diploma in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, which have equipped me with both the leadership expertise and science-backed knowledge necessary to drive meaningful change in schools. I’m deeply committed to using the evidence-based strategies from positive psychology experts to create flourishing school environments where both staff and students can succeed.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with school leadership teams and educators, providing support and guidance to help improve culture and communication within school communities. By embedding positive psychology practices, schools can foster a culture that nurtures emotional resilience, wellbeing, and collaboration. This creates a ripple effect—when teachers and staff feel supported and valued, their positivity and engagement naturally extend to the students they teach.

Having spent over a decade in the education sector, I have seen the ongoing and escalating struggles and pressures teachers and school leaders face daily. That’s why I am committed to sharing the tools I’ve learned to help schools become healthier, more connected places to work and learn. The strategies I provide are not only practical, but they also have a lasting impact—enhancing both individual and team wellbeing, which ultimately leads to improved student outcomes.

If you're looking to build a positive, supportive school culture that prioritises the wellbeing of your staff and students, I would love to help. Together, we can create a flourishing school community where everyone has the support they need to succeed.

Emotions are data. They are information. They are trying to tell you something.

Focus, Reflect, Action, and Refine form a powerful appreciative inquiry cycle for school leaders and educators to enhance both personal and professional wellbeing.

By embracing this iterative process, school leaders and educators can foster resilience, innovation, and sustained wellbeing in their personal and professional lives.

  • The process begins with Focus, where leaders and individuals identify goals, challenges, or areas for growth, gaining clarity on what they are seeking to achieve.

  • Reflect: a critical step for understanding values, strengths, experiences, evaluating current practices, and identifying insights that inform future steps.

  • Armed with clarity, educators can take deliberate Action, implementing strategies and changes aligned with their goals.

  • Like a learning sprint, this process encourages continuous improvement through Refine, where strategies are adjusted based on feedback and outcomes, creating an adaptive cycle of learning and growth.

Think of this as your new beginning in the upward spiral of flourishing.
